It is a step towards standardised, blockchain-ledger-secure repositories for seafarer identification, certification and seagoing logs. Cyprus-based LedgID is one of the first signatories, along with Maritime Passport, Crewdentials, IDSure and the Bahamas Maritime Authority. Bimco’s Jeppe Skovbakke Juhl said the idea is part of the industry’s move to digital work processes, and is based on the International Maritime Organization compendium on electronic business. It prevents organisations and companies from developing their own fragmented digital solutions, which cannot then link with each other “By aligning with the IMO compendium, it strengthens trust and reduces administrative burdens, while ensuring that seafarers can carry their qualifications seamlessly across employers, systems and borders,” Juhl said. “Generally, this i
